We also create the tools that are used to produce the software for those devices &#8211; compilers, debuggers, performance analysis tools and simulators. We&#8217;re looking for an intern to work in the Advanced Product Development team, on investigations into future development tools. This is exciting work combining analysis of market needs and technology trends with hands-on investigations and prototyping. There will be opportunities to work closely with experts from across ARM&#8217;s teams &#8211; software, hardware, graphics, marketing, Research &amp; Development and even legal. You will work on one or more investigations with a senior ARM engineer acting as mentor and supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Are you a good fit for ARM?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In order to be considered you should be completing a degree course in Computer Science or other relevant subject. We&#8217;re looking for candidates with well-developed software skills. Successful candidates will ideally have engaged in a significant amount of software development beyond their set course work, for example through involvement in open-source projects. Essential skills and experience that we are looking for include: \u2022 Familiarity with C and\/or C++ and scripting languages such as Python \u2022 Ability to think through complex, abstract problems \u2022 Ability to learn new skills \u2022 Interest and curiosity in new technology trends \u2022 A professional manner with good communication skills It\u2019s a bonus if you also have: \u2022 Experience with embedded software and hardware \u2022 Experience with assembly-language programming \u2022 An understanding of microprocessor architecture and its effect on performance \u2022 Interest and\/or prior experience with software optimization \u2022 Building and installing Linux \u2022 Familiarity with software licensing (e.g. GPL) and patent issues You will not be expected to have experience of the ARM architecture, though this would be an advantage<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s in it For You?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As an intern at ARM, you will work on real projects that have real impact, while also building on key skills for your future studies and employment.
