We’ve been asked to let you know about the following job vacancies for General Motors in Ireland:

They are still recruiting for both vacancies, despite the “content expired ” message on the Data Messaging Middleware Specialist vacancy.

Ideally, candidates would have the following competencies, which may require focus at postgraduate level:

Data Integration role:

  • Basic experience with WebSphere MQ administration
  • A basic understanding of current IT technologies such as Structured Query Language (SQL), Extensible Markup Language (XML), Java, and XML Path language (XPath)

HPC role:

Knowledge of Linux operating systems
Preferred Qualifications (not required to have all):

  • SuSe Linux administration basics
  • Job scheduling basics using s/w tools like: LSF, Grid Engine, etc
  • Hardware concepts (Components in a Server)
  • Storage concepts : IO optimization
  • Infiniband network concepts
  • Scripting languages like ksh, and Java for batch programming. For example:
    • ksh scripts to monitor system parameters
    • Knowledge in writing non-GUI Java programs to automate or run routine system related tasks
