Portaltech Reply – Intern DEV Portaltech Reply – Intern BA
Those of you who were at Gregynog will no doubt remember Sebastian and Georgina, one of the interviewing team, who were from Portaltech Reply.
Portaltech was set up by Aberystwyth graduates, and has now gone on to be part of a larger company. They are very keen on Aberystwyth students because they know the standard of our degrees. Sebastian is himself a graduate of our department.
Sebastian says that they can take up to four students for these two jobs (attached). So if you like the sound of the company and the jobs, this is one of those which it is very worthwhile making the effort to apply for.
Gloversure-Industrial-Advert-2019-20
Here’s another IY employer who comes to us every year advertising IY jobs. You may remember that Jonathan Knight from Gloversure was at Gregynog. Both he and Richard Glover-Davies (the owner) are graduates of this department.
The company’s main base is Welshpool, just a short walk from the train station. So it is possible to commute from Aber, if you really don’t want to leave your friends for a year (and it has been done by at least one past IY student). If you are keen on web, or if you are a software engineer who is interested in web, this might be for you. They often take a few students a year from us, so an application has a high chance of success, if this is your thing.
Enabling Technologies Support Intern 2019 Data Protection Support Intern 2019

Enabling Technologies: https://careers.mcafee.com/job/united-kingdom/technical-support-engineer-intern/731/10027659
It’s a wildlife conservation charity. The placement would be based in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. They provide free accommodation and £100 a week with no living wage.
Please get in touch with Angharad if interested and she will send the details to you.
JOB AD – Systems Developer (Industrial Year) EXTERNAL (23 Nov 2018)
Laura Ashley are near Newtown, Powys, so this is one where you can still come and visit your friends in Aber regularly! You could probably even commute it from Aber.
We often get students there, so another high-chance application.
Mentor have come back to us again, as they do every year. We regularly send students to them, so that means this is another of those jobs with a high success rate for you. In other words, it is worth the time and effort to apply!
I have visited in the past, and the students there seem to have an excellent time. So this comes as a highly recommended opportunity.
Please send CV and covering letter directly to Jacob Tredinnic (jacob_tredinnick@mentor.com). They would like to start interviewing as soon as possible, and will continue until all the placements are filled.
So don’t delay, do it today!

I know many of you have been asking about these. They are now advertised. And there are quite a few placements available. It is very likely they will all go to Aber students, so this really is a high-chance one for you.
And it’s in Germany. If you want to know more about Bad Homburg, I visited last March. And four of our third years were there; I am sure they would all be prepared to talk to you too. (It’s a lovely town!)

This opportunity has just come via an IY student currently on placement with And Digital in London. Fred Long has just visited, and got a good impression of the company. I am sure he would be happy to talk to anyone who is considering applying. And if anyone wants to contact the student currently there on placement, I am happy to forward your email address.
Obviously, because they already have an Aber student for this year, your chances are good!
Here are a couple of IY positions which are relatively local. If you have a car, it’s an easy trip back to Aber to see your friends. Builth Wells is a lovely place too. We have a student there this year, and if anyone would like to ask that student how they find it, I’ll put you in touch.
Again, this is a company which has come directly to us, so your chances of getting a job with them are very good, if you apply.
