I’ve spotted a job listing for a company where I have done a summer placement which may be of interest to some of our first/second years.

There is a summer placement available which is quite flexible (I did 9 weeks after my IY), and a year in industry which can get quite involved.

It’s a great opportunity for students as the people there are all great and willing to help develop skills in Linux, git and other tools for open source development.

Dear students looking for an IY

Howard, from DCA Designs (represented at Gregynog by Hester) has just sent us this. Please apply if the area is of interest to you! We want to keep DCA Designs coming back to Gregynog, and they have only had a couple of applications so far. Because they know our students, and come direcly to us, this is one of those positions which you have a high chance with. So it’s worth the effort of applying. If you’re all worried about the CS27020 assignment deadline on Friday, then you have the weekend to apply. But please don’t forget! Put it on your calendar: “Do application” for Friday evening 🙂

UTC Aerospace Systems – Year in Industry 2019-2020

Dear second year students,

Those of you who were at Gregynog will remember Claire Knights, from UTC Aerospace. She’s just sent me the following email and job advertisement, which some of you got at Gregynog.

Remember, even if you were not at Gregynog, you can still apply! And if you hadn’t thought about doing an IY, perhaps this will persuade you. Claire is a graduate of Comp Sci Aberystwyth. They are targetting us for recruitment. Therefore, applications to them stand a far higher chance of success than to most companies.
