Internship at Stevenson Astrosat

Lewis Dale on the ACS jobs Facebook page says: Stevenson Astrosat are currently looking for software engineers to come and work at their Edinburgh offices.

I’m currently doing an internship there, and the work is really interesting; it’s using satellite data for a variety of uses, including disaster recovery.

Graduare Embedded Software Engineer

Emerson, based in Newtown, are looking for a Graduate Embedded Software Engineer, C/C++.

Role Overview:

  • To establish functional requirements and to specify system-wide embedded software designs in C++
  • To implement embedded software system designs which meet agreed functional design requirements

The successful candidate’s main responsibilities will include:

  • To write & maintain functional requirement specifications by interpreting & analysing user requirements.
  • To develop software designs and architectures that you and/or colleagues will implement
  • To implement & verify system designs, whilst satisfying agreed necessary conditions for quality, reliability, maintainability and cost
  • To take part in design and code reviews

  • Development of products supporting integration of CT products into modern industrial applications.

Qualifications, Experience and profile:

  • Computing/ Science/ Engineering Degree class 2(i) or higher.

  • Experience in real-time software development using C/C++. .

  • The ability to support and lead less experienced engineers.

  • Experience of using structured design methodologies such as UML.

  • Any experience in planning, organisation and prioritisation of work in a small team/project an advantage

  • Ability to support the advancement of the software development processes and working practices.

  • Capable of supervising 3rd party testing of the end product.

  • Capable of clear and accurate communication, both verbal and written.

  • Experience of developing drivers for Ethernet communication protocols would be beneficial

IT support work, 8 hours per week in Aberystwyth

Ultracomida is a delicatessen in Aberystwyth. They emailed us today (4th Jan 2016) to say that they are still looking for a student to work part time for them as IT support. They say “This position is ideal for a student as it is only 8 hours a week and is ideally done in 2 x 4 hour blocks (although we are flexible on this).”

PART TIME IT SUPPORT/SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR NEEDED
8-10 hrs per week (flexible working hours)
£7-£8 per hour (depending upon experience)
To help us with our online business we are looking for a well organised person with a strong understanding of all areas of IT; including web marketing and design, updating websites, online sales, processing online sales and managing online rankings.
You must have a good working knowledge of Photoshop, HTML Markup and CSS and all Microsoft Office programs. You will also need a basic knowledge of servers or networking and search engine optimisation. The ideal candidate will have all of the above skills, be a good problem solver, have good interpersonal skills and be based in the Aberystwyth area.

Summer placement at Sky
