Junior developer job, Backbase, Amsterdam

Another job ad through from a recent Aber grad:

The particular team is looking for people who are junior and who want to learn – there’s a good progression (Roberto confirms this) and they’re looking ahead to tech which will be big in online banking in a few years; this is very much at the “new ideas” end of banking tech. Based in Amsterdam.

Roke – varied grad roles, multiple locations in UK

Neil H, a recent grad, writes:

Roke are looking for multiple graduate roles (multiple locations) to be filled mostly for a 2020 intake. a list can be found here:

https://www.jobtrain.co.uk/roke/vacancies.aspx

The jobs look pretty varied – engineer, software engineer, cyber security, business analyst etc. etc. so if you’re searching take a look – Roke are a big company and apparently they want to take on lots of grads for 2020.

If anyone wants to apply they can do so through the site or Neil can send their CV directly to recruiting, this also acts as recommendation. He says “It would be great to see more from Aberystwyth here as they are aware of the great work the department does and favour the modules we study also.” – if you want to take advantage of the “Neil” route of CV submission, get in touch with me (Hannah Dee hmd1@aber.ac.uk) and I’ll pass it on.

Environmental System, Aberystwyth

I visited a company in Aberystwyth, Environmental Systems

They are interested in our industrial year scheme, and may consider employing an IY student.

What they do is likely to interest people in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, but they also want software engineers. If any of you are doing a joint degree with Geography, that may well also be of interest to them.

They’re very much at the stage where they are exploring possibilities at the moment, so there is no guarantee that a job will be there. But they would be very happy to talk to anyone interested, anyway.

Gloversure

You may recall meeting Jonathan Knight from Gloversure at Gregynog in October. The company has employed IY students in the past in Welshpool, and I know one or two of you already have placements there for next year.

For the first time now, they are advertising a placement in Chester, for mobile app development. This could be a very exciting opportunity for anyone interested in that field.

I have just been forwarded the following advertisement, which apparently initially went to our Physics department. Clearly some of these jobs are relevant to you, although the advert doesn’t explicitly mention computer science or software engineering.

Liberata

I had a visit recently from Liberata; they were looking to establish a relationship with us for taking IY students. So the attached job advert is one we are very likely to get someone into. I am also told that the pay is likely to be very good.

So this is an excellent one for you. Just send a CV (and I’d suggest a covering letter, though they don’t ask for it). And don’t be put off by the fact that they mention technologies you don’t know – we discussed this, and they realise no-one is going to have all of them! But you will learn, which will be great for you.
