  • Degrees: Any degree background is welcome but those from technical or STEM disciplines such as computer science, engineering, physics or maths would be most relevant.

We’ve just opened up our graduate hiring process for 2018. Increasingly our clients are realising that if they want to survive they need to become companies that stop seeing tech as a separate silo of their business, or an outsourced expense, and start making their ability to build and run software a primary business concern. We need the highest calibre technologists to help them get there, and we’re hoping some Aber graduates can be part of that.

ThoughtWorks is a global collective of technologists, we help our clients achieve their most ambitious missions by building great software and driving organisational change. We believe that people with technical skills should be empowered to be decision makers across our own organisation and our clients organisations to stay ahead. Core is a leading digital agency based in Cardiff Bay and we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our web development team.

Responsibilities for this role include working as part of a team on the maintenance of our existing websites as well as being involved in the (technical) design and development of new projects.

Our development team have a leaning towards open source technologies and in particular Ruby and Ruby on Rails but we also have LAMP stack projects that we develop and maintain.

An aptitude and enthusiasm for best practice web development is required as well as some demonstrable skills in the field. However, we are not expecting candidates to have a commercial portfolio of work and we expect to foster and support the successful candidate towards greater learning and contributing to commercial projects.

A key component of this role will be for the individual to carry a positive and enthusiastic attitude into their tasks. As a relatively small team we have fostered a strong working environment together, whereby we all take an interest in each other’s work. We hope the successful applicant will take advantage of this collaborative and welcoming atmosphere, while helping to drive our business to further levels of growth.
