LifeARC, Stevenage (Hertfordshire)

Morwenna has just contacted me with this one. It sounds fascinating. As they say:

“The placement will be a technology development role focussed on the use of Natural Language Processing and related technologies for cognitive data searchand exploration of unstructured data”

This could well be ideal for an AI or data science student.

It’s the last job on this page:

Mentor Graphics

Mentor-IESD-UKinternjobdescription

I have just received this from Jacob Tredinnick (jacob_tredinnick@mentor.com). Mentor Graphics take IY students from us every year. I have visited students at both their Altrincham and Newbury locations in the past, and the students have an excellent time there.

This really is a good one to go for, if you like the sound of the job.

Jacob comments: “Could any interested students please email their CV and cover letter to me? We plan to start interviewing in January and will continue until we have filled all of the positions available, looking for a start around July.”

So don’t delay applying!

Gloversure

Dear all,

Gloversure Industrial Year Developers 2020-21 have taken IY students continually for a longer time than probably any other company. This is virtually certain to be a job for one of you, and maybe two or three of you. It’s in Welshpool usually, though they have offices in Chester too now. Welshpool, although small, is an easy train ride or car drive from Aber, and I know a past student on placement there actually commuted it (though I don’t necessarily recommend that). Richard (the MD) and Jon Knight (the Technical Director) are both graduates of this department.

It’s particularly of interest if you are into web and/or software development.
