Job Description

Are you interested in learning about Public and Private Cloud technologies?

With a team of 20+ experts, you will be heavily supported in your journey.
We are looking for intern software developers with an interest in
learning about Public & Private Cloud technologies to get involved in
the whole software development lifecycle – writing code, testing it,
deploying it, and operating/supporting it.

Education and Experience Required:

Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software
Engineering, Computing, Engineering, Maths or related (with minimum 2
years completed)

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong software development skills

Experience with Linux or other Unix flavors Analytical troubleshooting
and problem-solving skills.

Good at collaborating

Knowledge of one or more programming languages Strong written and verbal
communication skills.

About the HPE Galway Office

The Galway site has various business groups located in Ballybrit Business
Park including a state-of-the-art Cyber Fusion Centre and a thriving
Innovation Centre. The site is located 15 minutes from Galway city,
a vibrant and cultural city on the western coast of Ireland.

Galway is the base for the HPE Security Centre of Excellence and the home
of the Security Fusion Centre, of which GSECC is a function. Security
staff currently based in Galway are spread among many distinct Security
functions such as Risk & Compliance, Network Security, Big Data
Intelligence, Defense Center Analysts, Advanced Threat & Intelligence,
Training and Awareness, Project Managers and Endpoint Protection. Security
in Galway is comprised of graduate level employees to Master level
technologists, Managers and a Director.

There is a vibrant Sports & Social club which manage a range of clubs
such as Soccer, Cycling, Tag Rugby, Golf, Angling, Photography, Running,
Walking, & Musical Society. This group also host seasonal events like
BBQs, Winter Parties etc

AberForward – Software Testing Assistant – Work Experience

The Law and Criminology Department’s project Veterans Legal Link is seeking to hire a Software Testing Assistant through the AberForward Scheme. This is an opportunity for one of your students to gain valuable work experience.

Software Testing Assistant

Your role will be to test the security and accessibility of our online portal software.

Duties will include penetration testing, QA testing, and systems administration. The role will primarily involve trying to break our system to test for security vulnerabilities and logic errors. Additional responsibilities will include testing the accessibility of the web portal.

The portal is being developed on the LAMP stack, so a strong applicant would have requisite knowledge of Linux, Apache, MariaDB, and PHP. JavaScript and HTML knowledge would also be useful for the role.

This position is avaliable to 2nd year and above Computer Science students or students who can demonstrate a strong ability for programming. Placement duration is 146 hours. A part time position would be 15 hours a week for 10 weeks. A full-time option is also avaliable. The position would be fully remote.

Manufacturing IT Placement Student – Cummins

Currently, I am on my Industrial Year placement at Cummins Inc. within the Cummins Business Services (CBS) branch.

I am employed as a Manufacturing IT Placement Student. This role is dynamic and mainly surrounds systems and maintenance rather than software development.
I support the manufacturing systems on site at Huddersfield and have exposure to sites across the EMEA region, even hosting regular meetings with sites in Russia.

Cummins are currently hiring for a variety of positions starting July 2022, suitable for undergraduate students looking for an Industrial Year placement. Digital Forensic Technical Officer – West Yorkshire Police

West Yorkshire Police Digital Forensic Unit are in the process of recruiting as a result of significant expansion. A primary area of this expansion is taking on additional Digital Forensic Technical Officers (DFTO’s) to extend our scope across the 5 districts in West Yorkshire.

 

The Digital Forensic Technical Officer is seen as the gateway role to Digital Forensics quality standards. This role is suitable for those with a degree in Digital Forensics beginning their careers, those already working in quality standards, and other recruits with a technical background who would like a change in direction

 

Our expansion plan will continue to see us grow to a significant size of over 100 staff, in response to the ongoing importance of digital forensic evidence across all major crime types. DFTO’s play a crucial role in the full forensic process by ensuring the equipment and software used by the operational teams is fully functional and will ensure the integrity of the evidence we provide to the Criminal Justice System. The company consists of a small group of motivated individuals with a strong academic background in Mathematics and Computing. The role will involve working closely with one other developer in the creation of a learning management platform. You will collaborate by writing full pages and components in React for which you will write your own endpoints in Express.js using Mongoose to write your own NoSQL queries to access any required data while conforming to version control practices. This opportunity is an exciting way for a person with the right drive to kick start their career in an environment that provides good career progression and plenty of experience.

Must-haves:
