“I had an interview with them just after my first year (almost three years ago) in the hope of securing a Summer placement but they were looking for someone that could work for them on a permanent basis. Marine Autonomous Robotics Systems

In Southampton, you’d be working in the “Marine Autonomous Robotics Systems” group (MARS), same as moi. For people who like Linux and C++ and ROS and fighting CMake and robot boats. Nice laid back place to work full of cool kit!

PhD in security or privacy

Interested in a PhD in security / privacy? The group (http://secpriv.inf.ed.ac.uk/) is growing a fair bit at present, and doing some really interesting research. There is a list of topics and contacts here: http://secpriv.inf.ed.ac.uk/phds/

Funding points:
There is some funding still available for UK/EU students, including for example, in conjunction with the Pervasive Parallelism CDT, or the Alan Turing Institute. Applications are accepted at any time, but really need to be made by next week to be considered for most of the remaining funding.
