Manufacturing IT Placement Student – Cummins

Currently, I am on my Industrial Year placement at Cummins Inc. within the Cummins Business Services (CBS) branch.

I am employed as a Manufacturing IT Placement Student. This role is dynamic and mainly surrounds systems and maintenance rather than software development.
I support the manufacturing systems on site at Huddersfield and have exposure to sites across the EMEA region, even hosting regular meetings with sites in Russia.

Cummins are currently hiring for a variety of positions starting July 2022, suitable for undergraduate students looking for an Industrial Year placement. These cover a variety of different subjects, but there are several computing and IT placements available to view on their careers website: https://cummins-uk.jobs & information at https://www.cummins.com/careers/working-at-cummins
These positions are located in Darlington, Daventry, and Huddersfield; with opportunities for international travel available. As part of my re-location to Huddersfield, Cummins paid for a weeks trip, even providing me a corporate card and hire car!

My position for the 2022 hiring run is now live on the job site at https://cummins-uk.jobs/darlington-gbr/cbs-it-manufacturing-it-placement-student/C644CD3AF09846A49B01668C6885994C/job/
This is the perfect role for anyone who is does not like programming too much, but thoroughly enjoys systems and network administration.
Currently, only a limited number of people have applied for the placement, so I would recommend applying to present a good first impression.

Summer camps in America, Canada and Europe.

> I am just writing to you to see if you could possibly help with passing on a message to all years of your Computer Science students who will hopefully find this very interesting, and give them a much needed fun summer experience.
>
> Due to the current pandemic we aren’t able to come onto campus like we have done in previous years, so this time we are working with the Careers Dept in hosting a virtual information talk next Tuesday 26th October @ 5pm on working at children’s summer camps in America, Canada and Europe over the summer holidays, and would love to spread the word and invite all the students as it would be perfect summer placement/job for them, like it was for me when I was at Uni. I know students are itching to get back some form of normality in their life since the pandemic took hold, especially over the summer (which they most likely missed out on this past couple of summers), so doing something fun, exciting and rewarding like this could be the perfect opportunity.
>
> Working at a Summer camp in America, Canada or Europe is the perfect opportunity for the students to make the most of their summer, working in a different country/culture doing what they love for 9 weeks followed by up to 30 days traveling afterwards – the ideal job and holiday rolled into one. Working with around 800 camps (made up of Traditional, Specialist, Under privilege, Special Needs, Specific requirements, Day camps and Religious camps) we look for people to work in Sports, Science, Ecology, Performing Arts, Music, Technology, Adventure … literally everything you can think of. Not only will they have fun and meet people from around the world, but it will also enhance their studies, learning development and confidence, whilst at the same time increasing their cultural awareness and employability/life skills.
> With this in mind, would there be any possibility in passing this information on to your students, as we would love to invite any that are interested? The information talk starts at 5pm and will be hosted via Teams. Students just need to click on the following link https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_ZmI5YmMxY2UtYjU3NS00Y2QxLWFlNGQtN2IxN2Q0MWM5YWI1%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22d47b090e-3f5a-4ca0-84d0-9f89d269f175%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22a1df00a8-83f0-48e4-8f8d-fdad7faefc9b%22%7d and will last for about 45 mins. I understand some people may have lectures etc, so I would love them to have my contact details if interested so they don’t miss out and then I can pass on the relevant information.
>
> If this isn’t something you are able to do, or you feel I would be best speaking to someone else, please let me know and I will contact them. I really appreciate you taking the time to read this and if you are able to do anything to assist. I have attached a word document to send out to your students if you are able to, plus an image we have been using to advertise the talk for social media if you have that available (please note, you will need to add the Teams link and login details separately with the image).
>
> Anything you can do would be amazing, but completely understand if you can’t or don’t have the time. If you have any questions, or I can provide any further information please just ask?
>
> Kind regards
