Industrial Placement in DDaT at Companies House 2021-22-1

– Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

– Keep our data separated and secure through multiple data centres and regions.

What you’ll bring
– Graduate degree BSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar. Strong communications skills.
– SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases. Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
– Proficient Python programmer.
– Ideally an awareness of network technologies and concepts or an insatiable desire to learn.
– Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management. A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
– Experience with big data tools (e.g. Spark, Kafka), data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g. Airflow) and GCP cloud services (e.g. Pub/Sub, Dataflow).

Net World Sports is a company based in Wrecsam, who sell online. I visited our IY student there 2 years ago, and it was a very successful placement. This is an ideal position for someone who’s looking for an IY in the field of web development.
Because of where it is (on the edge of the town), it helps if you have your own transport. Though don’t let that put you off applying if you haven’t.
Ystumtec is a “micro” company near Aberystwyth. This opportunity will suit someone who is happy to “just get on with it”. You need to be self motivated, resourceful and prepared to solve problems yourself. Much of the work done by Ystumtec involves small microcontroller/rasp pi type sensor systems so familiarity or background with those kinds of things is important.
